On Shabbos Parshas Ki Savo, August 31-September 1, the Kollel held its annual pre-Rosh Hashana East Denver Shabbaton. While the Kollel brings Torah learning, Torah teaching and Torah living to all segments and neighborhoods of the greater Denver area, its members and alumni live primarily in West Denver and Southeast Denver. Kollel Associate Scholar Rabbi Akiva Stern and family moved to East Denver two years ago, where they have made a significant impact through classes, Shabbos seudos and being an integral part of the community.
Parshas Ki Savo, though, saw nine Kollel families – current members and alumni – spend Shabbos in East Denver. Kollel members delivered numerous lectures and talks in two shuls in East Denver, Kehillas Bais Yisroel and the DAT Minyan.
“The Shabbaton brings many Kollel families who would not ordinarily spend Shabbos together with us for an extra special time,” says Dr. Alan Pomeranz. “It is always an uplifting, spiritual opportunity to spend time together.”
“Thank you to the Kollel for coming to the East Side en masse,” says Graeme Bean. “We had a wonderful Shabbos preparing for Rosh Hashana!”
