Rabbi Mordechai Fleisher, Director of Operations
Rabbi Mordechai Fleisher was appointed Director of Operations for the Kollel in 2013. Prior to that, he served as the Kollel’s Director of Community Education, and was a full-time Kollel scholar for nearly four years. Rabbi Fleisher is also a Senior Educator for the Kollel, and his many classes on a wide variety of subjects and genres continue to intrigue and inspire.
Rabbi Moshe Heyman, Kollel Director
Rabbi Moshe Heyman was one of the first two Kollel families to settle in the Southeast area, where he continues to make an impact. Rabbi Heyman was the Kollel’s Director of Programming from 2014-2016, and became Kollel Director in 2016. Rabbi Heyman’s enthusiasm for learning and spreading Torah is boundless. His optimism and vision are bringing the Kollel to ever-greater heights in its mission of bringing Torah learning, Torah teaching and Torah living to Denver Jewry. Rabbi Heyman studied at Yeshiva Ohr Hameir of Peekskill, Rav Dovid Soloveitchik, and Beth Medrash Govoha, where he graduated from the Ner Le’elef outreach course.
Rabbi Yechiel Erlanger, Director of Special Projects
Before joining the Denver Community Kollel as a founding scholar in February 1998, Rabbi Erlanger studied at Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, NJ, Mesivta Tiferes Yerushalayim in Staten Island, and Yeshiva of Toronto, Canada. After receiving four years of training as a community scholar at the Kollel, Rabbi Erlanger was appointed Kollel outreach co-director. Currently, Rabbi Erlanger is Director of Special projects for the Kollel. He also serves as a Judaic Studies teacher at Beth Jacob High School of Denver.
Rosh Kollel/Dean, Rabbi Aron Yehuda Schwab
Prior to founding the Denver Community Kollel, Rabbi Schwab studied for ten years at the Mir Yeshiva in Jerusalem. In 1998, he, along with Rabbi Shachne Sommers, founded the Denver Community Kollel. Since then, they have nurtured the Kollel and helped it blossom into an organization that has had a considerable impact on Jewish life and Torah study in Denver. He continues to guide the Kollel to greater heights, and still spends part of his day participating in the Kollel’s internal study sessions.
Rosh Kollel/Dean Rabbi Shachne Sommers
Before joining Rabbi Schwab to found the Denver Community Kollel, Rabbi Sommers spent four years studying and teaching as a community scholar at the Kollel of Greater Boston. In 1998, he, along with Rabbi Aron Yehuda Schwab, founded the Denver Community Kollel. Since then, they have nurtured the Kollel and helped it blossom into an organization that has had a considerable impact on Jewish life and Torah study in Denver. Rabbi Sommers directs the Kollel’s internal doctoral-level studies and teaches in the community.
