| | | | | Meet Our Staff | | |  | | Rosh Kollel/Dean Rabbi Aron Yehuda Schwab Prior to founding the Denver Community Kollel, Rabbi Schwab studied for ten years at the Mir Yeshiva in Jerusalem. He is a graduate of the Ner L’elef outreach training program, and holds rabbinic ordination from Rabbi Kolitz, the Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem. He was actively involved in outreach prior to coming to Denver, at both Aish HaTorah and Ohr Somayach in Jerusalem. In addition to teaching and studying, Rabbi Schwab oversees the Kollel’s outreach activities. | | | | | | | |  | | Rosh Kollel/Dean Rabbi Shachne Sommers Before joining Rabbi Schwab to found the Denver Community Kollel, Rabbi Sommers spent four years studying and teaching as a community scholar at the Kollel of Greater Boston. He studied at the Brisk Yeshiva in Jerusalem, and at Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, NJ, for six years. He was ordained as a rabbi by Rabbi Reuven Feinstein of the Yeshiva of Staten Island. Rabbi Sommers directs the Kollel’s internal doctoral-level studies and teaches in the community. | | | | | | | |  | | Outreach Co-Director Rabbi Yehuda Amsel Before joining the Denver Community Kollel as a founding scholar in February 1998, Rabbi Amsel studied at Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, NJ, Brisk Yeshiva in Jerusalem, and Yeshiva of Telshe Alumni in Riverdale, NY. After receiving four years of training as a community scholar at the Kollel, Rabbi Amsel was appointed Kollel outreach co-director. He continues to study at the Kollel part-time. He currently leads several lunch and learns, runs the Fathers & Sons program, and gives shiurim throughout the week in East Denver. | | | | | | | |  | | Outreach Co-Director Rabbi Yechiel Erlanger Before joining the Denver Community Kollel as a founding scholar in February 1998, Rabbi Erlanger studied at Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, NJ, Mesivta Tiferes Yerushalayim in Staten Island, and Yeshiva of Toronto, Canada. After receiving four years of training as a community scholar at the Kollel, Rabbi Erlanger was appointed Kollel outreach co-director. He also serves as a Judaic Studies teacher at Beth Jacob High School of Denver. He currently runs the Kollel’s Executive Learning Program, leads a Lunch and Learn in Glendale, and is involved in many of the Kollel’s larger outreach initiatives.
| | | | | | | | | | Director of Public Relations Malky Levitansky Prior to joining the Kollel staff in June 2004, Mrs. Levitansky promoted dozens of Jewish nonprofit organizations during her five years as production manager at Jerusalemcom, a Jerusalem-based pr agency. She also served as a founding team member of the Hamodia English Newspaper in Jerusalem, and as a public relations associate for Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. She graduated summa cum laude from Towson State University with a bachelor’s in Mass Communications. Her articles have appeared in numerous publications, including the Jerusalem Post, the Jewish Press, Hamodia, and Yated Ne’eman. | | | | | | | |  | | Development Coordinator, John Dandurand Prior to joining the Denver Community Kollel as Development Coordinator in April 2009, Mr. Dandurand worked as senior management at the Colorado Nonprofit Association and at Richard Male & Associates. He is former executive director of the Men's Leadership Alliance, Creating Caring Communities, the Colorado Arts Consortium, and the Mountain Valley Arts Council. He has also delivered countless hours of technical assistance and professional development training. |
